Marking a year since the first North Korea-U.S. summit in Singapore, the North has strongly called on the United States to change its calculations and reach out using a different approach.
The North's foreign ministry spokesperson issued a statement on Tuesday night.
It said the regime has done all it can to establish lasting peace and achieve denuclearization on the Korean Peninsula,... but the U.S. has deliberately ignored the its efforts and unilaterally demanded that it give up its nuclear weapons.
The statement said the fate of the June 12th Joint Statement won't yield results if the U.S. sticks to what it called hostile policies.
It urged Washington to make a (quote)"correct strategic choice," saying there's a limit to the North's patience.
For the past few weeks, the regime has been sending a similar message through interview-format reports on its state media.
But this time, Pyeongyang strengthened its tone by choosing a more official outlet a spokesperson's statement.
