Taylor Swift Pens Letter
in Support of LGBTQ Equality Swift recently wrote to Tennessee’s
Republican Senator, Lamar Alexander, in
support of LGBTQ rights and gender equality. The Tennessee-based pop star posted the
letter to her social media accounts on June 1. In it, Swift urged Senator Lamar to
support the Equality Act, as the bill
is currently under review in the Senate. Taylor Swift,
via statement The legislation was passed in May 2019
by the House, but is expected to face challenges
in the Republican-controlled Senate. The Equality Act would see the extension
of civil rights protection to include sexual
orientation and gender identity. Those protections would apply to various
aspects of life such as employment,
