SpaceX Crew Dragon Demo 1 Mission Short Film
  • 5 years ago
The SpaceX Crew Demo-1 Mission was an uncrewed test of the company’s Crew Dragon spacecraft. The mission is to be followed by the first commercial crewed mission to the International Space Station later this year.

The Demo-1 Crew Dragon spacecraft launched aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from the Kennedy Space Center’s historic Pad 39A at 07:49 UTC (02:49 EST) on Saturday, March 2. Less than 24 hours later, the spacecraft successfully rendezvoused with the International Space Station. At 11:02 UTC (06:02 EST), the spacecraft successfully docked with the station.

Following a 5-day stay aboard the station, the Demo-1 Crew Dragon spacecraft undocked for the International Space Station on Friday, March 8. At 12:43 UTC (07:43 EST) the spacecraft executed a deorbit burn rocketing back to Earth’s surface. After a tense few moments of expected signal loss, the spacecraft came into view above the Atlantic. At 14:45 UTC (8:45 EST) the spacecraft splashed down safely completing the mission.
