With the Term ‘Toxic Masculinity’ In an interview with ‘Vanity Fair,’
Streep confessed that she finds the
label “toxic masculinity” to be harmful. She feels that the term is detrimental
when applied to just one gender, as
women can also exhibit toxic traits. Meryl Streep,
via ‘Vanity Fair’ Toxic masculinity refers to masculine standards
that society enforces, such as suppressed
emotions and violence equating power. Streep thinks that in
labels alienate people
and are not helpful. Meryl Streep,

vocalized her opposition of labels. In 2015 she rejected the
“feminist” label, saying she’d
rather be called a “humanist.”
