Ross Leighton from Fatherson (Scotland) Interview at SXSW 2015
  • 5 years ago
While in Austin for SXSW, Ross Leighton of Scottish indie rock band Fatherson stopped by the AU's interview and performance suite to have a chat with Larry about their trip to the States. Performing for the first time in America, Leighton remained amazed at how warm the reception to the band's music has been, "...People know the words in some places and it's like, 'This is strange!'"

Releasing their debut album I Am an Island in 2014, the band has been strongly developing a following through Europe and the UK, especially following support slots for the likes of Panic! At The Disco and Frightened Rabbit. Leighton describes the experiences the band has been able to have in terms of touring off the back of the record, "We've done some of touring around Europe and a lot around the UK and now we're here. ...We played New York last week - had never been to New York - and there were people there from Boston and Philadelphia; tonnes of people knew the words and it was like a big sing along, it felt like being back home!"
