Zella spoke highly of her hometown Silver Lake and places like Echo Park, calling them "very inspiring". In terms of writing music from home, she said "I just moved into a new place... It takes me a little while to get accustomed to my surroundings and feeling really at home. It takes about four months until I can really relax and write some real music... It's gonna come later."

She also mentioned how she "found (her) sound last year and they (the songs) kept coming". As for reactions to her record, she said: "I think people are going to have a really clear idea of who I am after this record. There's a lot of genuine emotion coming through all the songs."
