the AU review sits down with Paul Saulnier of Canadian outfit PS I Love You at SXSW to talk about the festival, their latest music with "For Those Who Stay", working with Paper Bag Records in Toronto, potential trips to Australia, his favourite Australian bands, evolving the live show "we've gotten better at it, I think... we don't even have to practice anymore" and more...

On SXSW: "This time around it's been super easy and nice, because we know what to do. The first time around it was a complete clusterfuck... it was confusing and messy and we played like nine shows in three days. This time we're only playing three shows. So it's free and casual and nice... comparatively. We're still working hard, there's just less work this time."

On Paper Bag Records: "So many great bands and such an eclectic roster. There's no band like us, and there's not band like any other band on the label. They're all unique."

On For Those Who Stay - the first album PS wrote after leaving his hometown of Kingston, Canada: "I moved to Toronto, the big city... it was a big deal for me, living in a small town my whole life, I left a lot of shit behind. It's a record about leaving, and staying and people and boring shit that's important to me."

On Australia: "I think I love Australia. I've never been there, but all the best bands are from Australia. Total Control, Dick Diver, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Tame Impala of course. Big Scary are another one. I saw them at North by Northeast a couple of years ago and they gave me one of their records. It's really good."
