Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem) and Eric Welles (Luaka Bop) on Atomic Bomb! at Sydney Festival

As they sound-checked at Enmore Theatre, the cast and crew of Atomic Bomb! prepared for a massive two nights ahead, as part of Sydney Festival.
Their very ambitious production, which comes with high acclaim from cities like New York and London, involves a massive ensemble of talented musicians - many well known and all revered for their work - forming a super-group to translate and deliver the work of Nigerian synth pioneer William Onyeabor.
As they prepared, we caught up with Eric Welles of Luaka Bop, who is largely responsible for this all coming together, and Pat Mahoney, who spoke at length about what he feels he brings to the show and where it all came from.
