Dr Mahathir: Gov't to study quota for bumiputera contractors in ECRL project

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the government would study the Malaysian Bumiputera Contractors Association’s call for the government to give bumiputera contractors at least 20 percent of public works in the East Coast Rail Link (ERCL) project.
On April 15, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the involvement of Malaysia in the civil works of ECRL project would be increased to 40 percent following the signing of a supplementary agreement between Malaysia Rail Link Sdn Bhd (MRL) and China Communications Construction Company Ltd (CCCC) on April 12.
