BLACKPINK staged their first ever UK show not in a town hall or a more modest academy, but the 12,500 capacity SSE Arena, with tickets for the In Your Area date selling out in minutes. And as the crowd of BLINKs (the name of the fanbase) sang along at the top of their lungs to BLACKPINK’s videos while enthusiastically shaking their heart-shaped hammer lightsticks, we knew they would raise the roof once the girls came on.

For the uninitiated, BLACKPINK is made up of Jennie, lead rapper and vocalist, Lisa, lead dancer and vocalist , Jisoo, vocalist, and Rosé, vocalist and dancer, and they have been taking the pop world by storm. The band became the first K-pop group to perform at Coachella this year and have smashed YouTube records with the videos for Kill This Love and Ddu-du Ddu-du.
