Why Pluto is not considered a planet?

Well this video states that Pluto is the smallest planet that orbits the sun its area is similar to the area of Russia and its diameter spans half the length of the USA. Since Pluto is far away its temperatures drop below zero at around 375 degrees. Pluton is covered by ice and also has mountains like the earth.
