Release of Harriet Tubman
$20 Bill Pushed Back to 2028 Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin
recently announced that the $20 bill redesign
would not be unveiled in 2020 as planned. The new bill was set to feature
Harriet Tubman and coincide with the
100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Mnuchin said the date change is
due to a delay with the design process. Steven Mnuchin,

announced in 2016, following a 10-month
process involving public responses. The Women on 20s campaign, a group that has
advocated for Tubman’s $20 bill, believe the delay is
due to previous comments made by Donald Trump. Months before he was elected, Trump called the
change “pure political correctness” and proposed
Tubman be portrayed on the $2 bill instead. Women on 20s,
