A contentious and strained region, but with more than its fair share of diverse and exciting activities for all those of a religious and non-religious background. As well as being the country's economic capital with impressive, modern architecture, Tel Aviv is also a major destination for its nocturnal activities and has countless restaurants, bars and clubs which stay open till dawn. The neighborhood of Old Jaffa and the Jewish History museum are among the Tel Aviv's greatest cultural and historical offerings. Jerusalem is probably the world's most religiously significant city and, while it remains in a turbulent state, any visitor should do their best to see The Old City, The Dome on the Rock, The Western Wall, and the Mount of Olives. The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem in the West Bank is considered as the birthplace of Jesus Christ. Further east is the Dead Sea, a remarkable geological feature that's one of the world's saltiest bodies of water at 1,400 ft below sea level. The salty water makes swimming seem like floating and it provides numerous medically proven health benefits.
