Maximum Security Jockey Suspended 15 Days After Kentucky Derby Disqualification Luis Saez will be suspended for 15 racing days,
five times longer than the usual penalty
for riding infractions. Maximum Security became the first horse
in the history of the Kentucky Derby
to be disqualified from first place. Saez was cited for "failure to control his
mount and make the proper effort
to maintain a straight course." Saez's attorney says he will appeal the decision
by the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission. Country House placed first in the
Kentucky Derby after the disqualification. Neither Maximum Security or Country House
will be racing in the Preakness. The second leg of the Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes, will air this Saturday, May 18, on NBC.
