Mike Pence Warns Liberty University Graduates They Might Be 'Ridiculed' For Being Christian

Mike Pence gave a commencement address on Saturday.

Vice President Mike Pence on Saturday warned Liberty University graduates that they may be "shunned or ridiculed" for being Christian.
During his commencement address at the school, Pence said: "My message to all of you in the class of 2019...derives of the moment that we're living in today. You know, through most of American history, it's been pretty easy to call yourself Christian. Didn't even occur to people that you might be shunned or ridiculed for defending the teachings of the Bible. But things are different now."
"Some of the loudest voices for tolerance today have little tolerance for traditional Christian beliefs," he continued. "So as you go about your daily life, just be ready. Because you're going to be asked not just to tolerate things that violate your faith, you're going to be asked to endorse them. You're going to be asked to bow down to the idols of the popular culture. So you need to prepare your minds for action."
USA Today reports, Pence talked about the significant backlash he and his wife Karen faced when she resumed teaching at a Christian elementary school "after news reports pointed out that the school bans gay students and teachers."
Pence's speech comes days after Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg's widely publicized comments against the vice president.
"If me being gay was a choice, it was a choice that was made far, far above my pay grade," Buttigieg said at a fundraiser. "And that's the thing I wish the Mike Pences of the world would understand. That if you got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me -- your quarrel, sir, is with my creator."
