EU leaders denounce threats from Iran to bolster nuclear program
  • 5 years ago
The European Union has responded firmly to Iran's announcement to end its compliance with two particular conditions of the 2015 nuclear deal, saying it rejects any ultimatums but remains committed to the multilateral pact.
In a joint statement with the foreign ministries of France, the UK, and Germany, the EU urged Iran to respect the nuclear deal and said it regretted new U.S. sanctions imposed on Tehran.
Meanwhile, the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier strike group and four B-52 bombers have arrived in the Middle East as a warning to Iran, according to the Suez Canal Authority.
Iran has dismissed the announcement of the deployment as old news.
