Tomato Prices in the US Could Soon Rise up to 85% This is due to a new tariff the U.S. has placed on food imports from Mexico. Ongoing trade talks concerning tomatoes between the U.S. and Mexico have now lasted over a year. Should an agreement be made, the U.S. Commerce Department says tariff refunds may be issued. This is due to the U.S. having less of its own suppliers around this time of the year.
