Claims Former Funder Stole
$17 Million From Festival Dentsu Aegis Network, previously in charge of funding the anniversary festival, recently withdrew their support. Michael Lang, leading promotor of Woodstock 50,
went on to accuse Dentsu of illegally draining
$17 million from the festival’s bank account. Michael Lang,
via ‘NPR’ Lang also accused Dentsu of attempting
to dissuade artists from performing at the festival. Woodstock 50’s lineup ranged from
David Crosby and John Fogerty to current
celebrities such as Jay-Z and Miley Cyrus. Dentsu has since responded to the accusations
via Variety, denying anything was done illegally. Dentsu Aegis Network,
via ‘Variety’ The festival is still scheduled for August 16-18,
but tickets have yet to go on sale and permits
for the site have not been secured.
