In memory and obeisance to the people who lost their lives in the recent landslide in Aizawl town (May 2013), we celebrate the town of Aizawl as it clings to the hillsides. The gutsy people live their lives in happiness despite all the challenges of water, electricity, governance and the irritations of India!
Aizawl city is geographically placed on a flat topped mountain or hill resembling a 'Mesa'. Otherwise also termed as Meseta or tableland, which is an elevated area of land with a flat top and sides that are usually steep cliffs.
The capital state as well as the largest city of Mizoram is Aizawl; the center of all important government offices, state assembly house and civil secretariat. Aizawl is also the main religious and cultural centers of the Mizos, the ethnic tribe of Mizoram.The city lies just north of the Tropic of cancer and is located at 3715 feet from the sea level. A birds eye view of the city will sure catch the attention of the beholder.
Some of the notable places once you get to Aizawl city are Mizoram State Museum, Durtlang Hills, Mini Zoo, Bara Bazar, Luangmual Handicarfts Centre and Berawtlang Tourist Complex. Apart from these tourist sites, the nearby tourist attractions are Bung, Paikhai, Tamdil lake, Dampa Wildlife Sanctuary, Kolasib, Vantawng waterfalls, Champhai, Phawngpui, Saiha and Lunglei.

Mizoram became the 23rd state of India on 20 February 1987. Its capital is Aizawl. Mizoram is located in the northeast of India.
