Bhutan has one of the most flowers in the world. Seen here are the foxgloves, Common cosmos, Daphne, primula rebeccae, primrose and lilium wallichianum all together. The Eastern Himalayas have long been renowned for the wealth of their flora. Botanists the world over have travelled to this region to study them. Many of the most prized garden flowers in the West today, like several species of the rhododendron, clematis, lily, and poppy were bred from plants and seeds collected in the Eastern Himalayas by legendary plant hunters like Joseph Hooker, Kingdom Ward, George Taylor, and Ludlow. Today, Western and Central Bhutan are the best areas to see this region's incredibly rich variety of alpine flora.

There are many beautiful flowers in Bhutan. Most of them grow wild, high up in the mountains. In spring the mountain sides are covered in these beautiful flowers and it is as if god threw out buckets of colors on the trees and meadows. One can find magnolias, primulas and rhododendrons and azaleas and many more.Some of these flowers are used in making indegenious medicine and for pot pourri. Some are used to make dyes for the beautiful fabrics handwoven in Bhutan. Thimpu is the capital city of Bhutan. It is situated in the western central part of Bhutan and the name of the surrounding valley is dzongkhag, the Thimphu District. The culture of Bhutan is fully reflected in Thimphu in respect of literature, religion, customs, and national dress code, the monastic practices of the monasteries, music, dance, literature and in the media. Tsechu festival is an important festival when mask dances, popularly known as Cham dances, are performed in the courtyards of the Tashichhoe Dzong in Thimphu. It is a four day festival held every year during Autumn (September/October), on dates corresponding to the Bhutanese calendar'
