South Korean prosecutors have denied former President Park Geun-hye's request for the suspension of her jail term.
The former leader's attorney filed the request to the Seoul Central District Court last week, saying Park is in extreme physical pain and has difficulty sleeping at night.
Under Korean law, prosecutors can allow the suspension of sentences if convicts suffer from serious illness.
However, the stay of sentence deliberation committee decided that Park's condition is not severe enough to warrant a suspension.
Park has been imprisoned since March 2017 for abuse of power and corruption, as well as other charges.
