The security situation usually remains tens across the country during elections, however things get a little more heated in Jammu and Kashmir. The Anantnag district recorded only 13.63 percent voter turnout during the first leg of voting yesterday. The voter turnout in Anantnag has come to about one third from 39.37 during the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. This steep drop in the polling percentage can be attributed to the fact that people are scared to come out and vote, as they fear that they may be subjected to unprovoked violence.
