Low Taek Jho, who is wanted in connection with the 1MDB scandal, is residing in China and travelling around, according to a news report last week.

However, Chinese ambassador to Malaysia Bai Tian claims to be clueless about the fugitive financier's whereabouts.

“I don't know if Low is in China,” he told reporters during an interview in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

Describing this as an "old question that has been posed numerous times," Bai said Malaysia had asked for Beijing's assistance to locate Low, but that authorities there were unable to locate him.
