Laotians build sand stupas during New Year celebrations

Worshippers in Laos carve on the sandy banks of Mekong river knee-high sand stupas known as 'Toppathatsay' decorated with images of beloved monks and holy flowers, as Lao New Year or "Pi Mai" celebrations draw thousands to the UNESCO-listed city of Luang Prabang.
