Probation officers in S. Korea will monitor sex offenders around-the-clock on individual basis

South Korea's Ministry of Justice has revealed a new law comes into effect from today.... that allows police officers to monitor juvenile sex offenders around-the-clock on an individual basis.
Probation officers will watch the ex-convicts,... who have been released from prison but ordered to wear an electronic GPS ankle bracelet,... to prevent them reoffending.
The law was prompted by the Cho Doo-soon child rape case in 2008 when Cho brutally raped a then-eight-year-old girl.
The ministry has selected five potential repeat offenders for initial monitoring,... out of around a list of roughly three thousand.
Once selected, the high-risk ex-convicts will be under 24/7 police observation for at least six months.
