The South Korean government is conducting a survey into the working conditions of foreign crew members of deep sea fishing boats.
Since Monday, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries has teamed up with regional offices and the seafarers' union for a month-long joint probe.
The team will hold in-depth discussions with foreign crew members and shipowners …to check if employment contracts are reasonable …and whether there have been cases of overdue wages or assault.
The survey, conducted since 2013 for the foreign crew of local fishing boats, …has been expanded to cover deep sea fishing boats from this year.
