WikiLeaks Co-Founder Julian Assange Arrested Ecuador has withdrawn Assange’s asylum for “repeatedly violating international conventions and protocol.” Assange had been living in London’s Ecuadorian embassy for nearly seven years. Ecuadorian president Lenin Moreno described it as a “sovereign decision.” Lenin Moreno, President of Ecuador, via statement British police entered the embassy and forcibly removed Assange shortly after. He now faces possible extradition to the U.S. Assange is wanted in the U.S. for his role in the 2010 leaking of thousands of classified government documents. He was charged with conspiracy alongside former Army analyst Chelsea Manning and faces up to five years in prison.
