UPA chairperson and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi on Thursday performed special ‘havan’ ahead of filing nomination from Raebareli constituency. Later, the leader is scheduled to hold a roadshow in the region. The Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party have not fielded any candidate in this Congress bastion. Sonia Gandhi is aiming to retain her Raebareli seat for the fifth time. Earlier, she had won the seat in 2004, 2006 (bypolls), 2009 and 2014.

అఖిల భారత కాంగ్రెస్ మాజీ అధ్యక్షురాలు, యూపీఏ ఛైర్ పర్సన్ సోనియాగాంధీ హోమాన్ని నిర్వహించారు. గురువారం ఉదయం ఉత్తర్ ప్రదేశ్ లోని రాయ్ బరేలీలో ఆమె తన కుమారుడు కాంగ్రెస్ పార్టీ జాతీయ అధ్యక్షుడు రాహుల్ గాంధీ, కుమార్తె పార్టీ ప్రధాన కార్యదర్శి ప్రియాంకా గాంధీ వాద్రాలతో కలిసి హోమం చేశారు. అనంతరం ప్రత్యేక పూజలు నిర్వహించారు. వేద పండితుల ఆధ్వర్యలో హోమం నిరాటంకంగా కొనసాగింది. సోనియాగాంధీ హోమాన్ని నిర్వహించడంలో ఓ విశేషం ఉంది. ఇప్పటిదాకా ఆమె ఎప్పుడూ హోమం చేయలేదు. యజ్ఞ యాగాదులకు హాజరు కాలేదు. తొలిసారిగా ఆమె హోమాన్ని నిర్వహించారు.
