Transgender Parents-To-Be Get Inspiration at LGBTQ Gathering

Time for a summer road trip with Aydian, Jenilee, and their baby to be!
In this episode of The Creation Of Us, Aydian and Jenilee visit Provincetown, MA, to join in the fun of Family Equality Council (FEC) Family Week. This is an annual gathering of the LGBTQ community and their families to be together and discuss issues related to acceptance and equality in an open and relaxed setting. Aydian and Jenilee jump right into the festivities which includes a beachside clam bake where they talk with other guests about what it is like to be parents, to be trans parents, and what it’s like to have kids in a LGBTQ family. They also pick up some handy tips on the best way to eat a lobster!
We then follow Aydian as he speaks at a Johnson and Johnson sponsored event for kids where he talks about his journey of coming out at a time when there weren’t any role models for him follow. He also shares the excitement and challenges of being a first-time parent and how he is inspired by the spirit of the gathering. “It’s really tough because of the stigma put on you by society,” he noted. “If all these other families can do it, living their best lives, it’s a really motivating factor for us.”
Lastly, we join in as Aydian leads the Teen Parade into town! An exciting a heart-warming ending to a wonderful and love filled weekend, a place where Aydian and Jenilee hope to return for many years to come.
