Glaciers Are Losing Billions of Tons of Snow and Ice Each Year In a new study published in 'Nature,' researchers say that 390 billion tons of ice and snow are melting globally
every year. They add that Alaskan glaciers have suffered the biggest losses. The study's authors say
climate change is the main culprit. They add that in nearly the last 60 years, losses of
global snow and ice have amounted to 10.6 trillion tons. Michael Zemp, study lead author, via statement Over the last half century, melting from glaciers have also caused the earth's oceans to rise one inch.
