Singer-Songwriter Nicholas Wells found his passion at a young age. Nicholas’ catalogue of inspiring original songs — a product of writing since the age of eight — chronicles his growth in life and as a songwriter. A few identifying characteristics of his vocal and piano driven music are his memorable melodies, emotional storytelling, and grandiose musical arrangements. His music has been placed in programs which have aired on MSNBC, SyFy, and Netflix, and has been enjoyed by over one million listeners on Youtube and Spotify.
In 2005, at age seventeen, Nicholas released his first official self-produced, home-recorded album, entitled "This Life.” With an interest in production in addition to songwriting, he attended the Studio Production program at the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College.
Nicholas went on to release "Somewhere Down The Road,” a 2008 EP, and in 2010 a full-length album entitled "Something To Believe In.” His songs "A Little Bit" and "Hope In Love" from that album were featured in "Morgan" (2012), an independent movie by Michael Akers which introduced a great number of fans to Nicholas’ music.
On October 6th, 2015, Nicholas Wells released another full-length album entitled "Stumbling Forward,” along with an emotional music video for the album's single, "Empty Coffee Cups.” The video went on to surpass 130,000 views on YouTube, and had over 190,000 streams on Spotify. “Stumbling Forward” was also accompanied by several other noteworthy music videos on YouTube, and led to frequent spins on internet and international satellite radio.
As a singer, pianist, producer and arranger, Nicholas has worked with many notable artists. In November of 2015, Nicholas performed backup vocals for Adele at Radio City Music Hall in New York, which was later televised by NBC.
Nicholas played piano in a recent Five For Fighting Christmas Special, “Christmas Under The Stars,” in association with BYU Television and Kaleidoscope Pictures.
As a musical director and producer, Nicholas has performed with and directed “Scarborough,” a band featuring front man MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough. Nicholas co-produced and arranged four EPs with the band which were distributed by Sony Red, co-wrote original music with Joe Scarborough, and together with the band performed on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” as well as ABC’s “The View.”
In September of 2017, Nicholas released his latest and proudest work, an EP titled “Now and Then.” The EP shows a significant maturity in Nicholas’ songwriting and production. He captures the highs, the hardships, and the in-between sentimentality of time slipping by. Nicholas opens up emotionally on a whole new level. His first single, “What I’m Here For,” is accompanied by a music video which features Nicholas’ two adopted cats. As he stated, “the song is about being there for someone, or someTHING.” The video has since been viewed over 27,000 times, and his message has proactively inspired fans to adopt animals in need, and support local adoption shelters.
Additionally, Nicholas released a music video for the final track on the EP, “Waking Up At The End,” which Nicholas has described as the “thesis” of the EP. The video is a cinematic, golden-hour portrayal of summer’s end, showing Nicholas observing a younger self rounding the bases of an empty baseball field. The song is a reflective and emotional, piano and orchestrally arranged story of the fleeting nature of life.
