From her birthplace in Santiago, Chile, to a scholarship at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, Yael Meyer’s music reflects her varied background, a cool combination of the folk-rock in her father’s record collection she grew up listening to the exotic sounds of her native land, which featured Andean string charangos and pipes.

Produced by Bill Lefler [Dashboard Confessional, Patrick Stump, Ingrid Michaelson, Fall Out Boy] at his Death Star Studios in L.A.’s Koreatown, Warrior Heart, the third album on her own indie KLI label, offers a flowering of Yael’s seductive wide-screen sound, described by the Wall Street Journal as “bright, affecting, [with] synthesized rhythms and ambient sounds [that] burble under a soft sweet voice, sing-along melodies and nylon-string guitar.”

The title track, with its tribal rhythms mixed with an EDM sheen, recalls both Feist and Beth Orton, in which she describes the vulnerability that lies beneath her brave exterior: “I’m a lover with no game/And I got no one to blame/For the ailings in my warrior heart.”
