Matt is a New York City based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who was born and raised in England. He draws influences from the British folk music revival as well as, American roots, blues & country music.

Moving to the U.S.A. in 2002, gave Matt the opportunity to travel the country extensively, creating songs from his real-life experiences. Matt writes authentic melodies and lyrics reminiscent of the great delta blues, country and bluegrass artists of yesteryear. His 'old-soul' approach is a refreshing return to American roots music.

Matt is a student of Jorma Kaukonen, Larry Campbell, Jim Lauderdale, Roy Book Binder and Tom Feldman as alumnus of Jorma Kaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch. Matt has also studied with Barry Mitterhoff, Woody Mann, Frank Christian and Phil Hilborne. As such, he is an accomplished electric, acoustic, slide guitar and mandolin player. You will hear the influence of Bert Jansch and John Renbourne, as well as American heavyweights Blind Blake, Son House, Rev. Gary Davis, Doc Watson, Merle Travis & Bill Monroe.
