Record-Breaking Python Caught in Florida Everglades The 17-foot female snake was removed
from Big Cypress National Preserve. The 140-pound python is
the largest to ever be
found in the area. Due to pythons being an invasive species in Florida, the snake was killed after being caught. Big Cypress National Preserve, via Facebook Thousands of pythons have been removed from the Everglades in recent years. According to officials, sightings of deer, rabbit and foxes have gone down because of them. In turn, this leaves less food for wild panthers, which are endangered in Florida.
