The price South Korea's paying to import liquefied natural gas or LNG has dropped due to a global oversupply.
According to the Korea Energy Economics Institute and Yonhap News Agency on Monday, the price early this month was around four-dollars-40-cents per MMBtu, which stands for Million British Thermal Units.
The price was based on the Asian benchmark called Platts Japan Korea Marker.
This is far lower than last September's figure of around twelve dollars.
Analysts say this is because the U.S. has been increasing its exports of shale gas... and other countries like Australia and Egypt shipping more LNG as well.
