Chinese city shuts down chemical plant after explosion that killed 78 people

Authorities in Yancheng city decided to shut down the chemical plant that exploded on March 21. The explosion killed 78 and left 187 hospitalized. Around 3,000 factory workers and local residents were evacuated from the area as a result of the blast, which caused serious environmental damage. The blast at site owned by Jiangsu Tianjiayi Chemical was the deadliest industrial accident in China in four years.
