President Trump held a media event at the White House on Monday.

President Trump on Monday commented on what an easy life his senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner had prior to taking a job at the White House. 
"Jared has had a very easy life. He was doing phenomenally in New York, and everything he touched has turned to gold," Trump said at the 2019 Prison Reform Summit and First Step Act celebration. Trump continued: "And then, one day, he said, 'I want to come down and I want to have peace in the Middle East. And I want to do criminal justice reform. And I want to do all these wonderful things.' And his life became extremely complex."  While peace in the Middle East has a way to go, Kushner's work was instrumental to the creation and bipartisan approval of the First Step Act, which makes modifications to sentencing laws and aims to aid people in achieving success after their release.  Programs include job training, transitional housing, and relocation. Whether or not the bill will get adequate funding has been a concern among some.  Trump offered assurances on Monday that his "administration intends to fully fund and implement this historic law."
