Vaping May Be More Dangerous Than Previously Thought When e-cigarettes first hit
the market, they targeted
adults who were trying
to quit smoking. In more recent years,
the e-cigarette market
has become appealing to
younger nonsmokers. Maciej Goniewicz, a researcher
from Roswell Park Comprehensive
Cancer Center, believes e-cigarettes
may act as a gateway to tobacco use. Maciej Goniewicz, via Vox E-cigarettes may also cause
some concerning health issues. They contain nicotine,
which increases adrenaline
circulation and raises blood pressure. Several observational studies
have found a link between
e-cigarette use and an increased
risk of heart attack and stroke. They also emit microscopic particles,
such as metal, that can become
lodged in the lungs and absorbed
into the body’s circulatory system. Researchers have linked exposure
to small particles to cardiovascular
issues such as heart attacks and
high blood pressure. The vapor from e-cigarettes
can also irritate and damage
the lungs, causing wheezing
and other respiratory symptoms.
