S. Korea releases classified diplomatic documents from 1988

Turning to some other news now,... the government has released classified diplomatic documents from thirty years ago... that shed light on what it was doing diplomatically ahead of the 1988 Seoul Olympics... and other matters, some controversial.
The documents include South Korea's discussions with other countries about forming a unified Korean team for the 1988 Games and steps taken by the government at the time to use North Korea's bombing of Korean Air Flight 858 as a political tool in the presidential election.
The foreign ministry says it has declassified some two-hundred-fifty-thousand pages of diplomatic documents along with brief summaries of their contents.
They can be seen at the ministry's Diplomatic Archives in southern Seoul or on the archives' website.
