Trump: Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher Accused Of War Crimes To Be Moved To 'Less Restrictive Confinement'

President Trump posted a tweet about Eddie Gallagher on Saturday.

President Trump announced that Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher, who has been charged with war crimes relating to his deployment in Iraq, "will soon be moved to less restrictive confinement while he awaits his day in court."
Trump issued the news in a Saturday tweet where he explained the move was done "in honor of [Gallagher's] past service to our Country," adding that the "Process should move quickly!"
The president also tagged Representative Ralph Norman who, according to Fox News Radio, spoke to Trump about having the embattled veteran "moved from a cell with sex offenders to minimum security where he will be allowed to have visits with his wife and children and prepare with his council for his May trial."
Norman, along with dozens of other lawmakers have been fighting on behalf of Gallagher, citing his multiple deployments with the U.S. military.
Gallagher was charged by the Navy "with stabbing and murdering a wounded person, shooting at noncombatants, posing for a photo and performing his re-enlistment ceremony next to a dead body," notes CNN.
One of Gallagher's attorneys, Phillip Stackhouse, told the Navy Times last year: "Chief Gallagher will, like he has on every combat deployment, fight. Fight to clear his name, fight for justice, and fight to expose the lies that are being made against him."
His trial is reportedly expected to start at the end of May.
