Trump Lashes Out At Federal Reserve For 'Mistakenly' Raising Interest Rates, Says Stock Market Would Be Much Higher Otherwise
  • 5 years ago
President Trump on Friday again slammed the Federal Reserve for raising interest rates.

President Trump has accused the Federal Reserve of slowing the growth of the U.S. and world economies by "mistakenly" hiking interest rates.
He tweeted Friday: "Had the Fed not mistakenly raised interest rates, especially since there is very little inflation, and had they not done the ridiculously timed quantitative tightening, the 3.0% GDP, & Stock Market, would have both been much higher & World Markets would be in a better place!"
His post came a day after the Commerce Department adjusted down the U.S. GDP growth for the last quarter of 2018 from 2.6 percent to 2.2 percent.
Trump has been outspoken against the Fed's decision to raise interest rates in the past months.
"Economic numbers looking REALLY good," he tweeted in January. "Can you imagine if I had long term ZERO interest rates to play with like the past administration, rather than the rapidly raised normalized rates we have today. That would have been SO EASY! Still, markets up BIG since 2016 Election!"
