BJP Announces First List of Candidates for 2019; PM Narendra Modi to Contest from Varanasi

The BJP's 1st list of candidates out for the Lok Sabha Elections. After 3 days of central election committee meetings, senior part leader JP Nadda announced the names of 184 candidates, in a press conference. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be contesting elections from Varanasi. He is the incumbent MP there. In the biggest surprise, BJP President Amit Shah will be contesting from Gandhinagar in Gujarat instead of veteran leader LK Advani, who called the shots in the BJP for decades, from Gandhinagar. BJP heavyweights such as Home Minister Rajnath Singh and road transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari have been fielded from Lucknow and Nagpur seats respectively.
