Former Vice President Joe Biden’s advisers are reportedly considering a 2020 run announcement that includes the promise that Stacey Abrams will be his running mate.

Former Vice President Joe Biden's advisers are reportedly considering a 2020 run announcement that includes the promise that Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate, will be his running mate. According to the New York Times, the move would be made to provide assurances to voters who are concerned about Biden's age, which is 76. The Times' piece also suggests that bringing in 45-year-old Abrams would serve as a nod "to the rising next generation in Democratic politics — and elevating an heir — by announcing a running mate early, well before the nomination is sealed."  Axios notes: "The decision poses considerable risk, and some advisers are flatly opposed. Some have pointed out that in a Democratic debate, he could be asked why no one on the stage would be a worthy running mate."
If he does run as expected, Biden will enter the race as one of the Democratic Party's frontrunners, with numerous polls placing him at the top.
Notably, President Trump has described Biden as his "dream" opponent for 2020. During an interview in 2018, Trump was asked to weigh in on which Democrats he think will run.  "Well, I dream, I dream about Biden. That's a dream," Trump said. "Look, Joe Biden ran three times. He never got more than 1 percent and President Obama took him out of the garbage heap, and everybody was shocked that he did. I'd love to have it be Biden."
