One-Third of Uninsured
Americans Can't Afford
Their Meds, Says Report The report was
conducted by
the Centers for
Disease Control. It investigated strategies used
by people who were prescribed
drugs in 2017 to lower their costs. The study found that
1/3 of uninsured patients
could not afford to take their
medicine as it was prescribed. It also found that nearly
one in five people asked
their physician for cheaper meds. Among the uninsured,
nearly 40% made
the same request. A Kaiser Family
Foundation poll
conducted in February found that almost 80% of
Americans feel that
prescription drug
costs are unreasonable.
