Angels and Mike Trout Finalizing Record $430 Million Contract The new deal would be the largest in professional sports history. The Los Angeles Angels star outfielder
signed a six-year, $144.5 million
deal in 2014. The contract extension would
add an additional 10 years and
nearly $300 million. Outfielder Bryce Harper set the previous record last month, when he signed a 13-year, $330 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. Trout's average of almost $36 million per year would also best the previous record, held by Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher
Zack Grienke at $34.4 million per year. The 27-year-old Trout is a two-time American League MVP, with a career average of .307, 240 home runs and 648 RBIs.
