Pregnant women living in fine dust-filled regions at higher risk of premature birth: Study

A new study has found that pregnant women in South Korea have a higher chance of going into premature labor if they live in areas that are often subjected to high concentrations of fine dust.
Researchers from Kyung Hee University Hospital and the National Cancer Center analyzed the births of one-point-seven million newborns from 2010 to 2013.
They found mothers who lived in dusty areas were one-point-five times more likely to give birth prematurely,... within the 37th week of pregnancy.
Those residing in areas where fine dust density exceeds 70 micrograms per cubic meter,...had a seven-point-four percent chance of giving birth before their baby's due date.
However, women living in less polluted areas had a four-point-seven percent chance of going into premature labor.
