Daily Aspirin No Longer Recommended to Prevent Heart Attacks in Older Adults For years, doctors recommended a daily dose of 75-100 milligrams of aspirin to prevent cardiovascular problems. The American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association reversed that recommendation on Sunday. A new clinical trial found that taking low-dose aspirin daily had no effect on healthy, elderly people. The results suggested that aspirin could actually be linked to major hemorrhages.
