Trump: I Told Republican Lawmakers To 'Play Along' On Vote For Making Mueller Report Public
  • 5 years ago
President Trump on Saturday weighed in on a recent House vote.

President Trump has said he had given the green light for Republican lawmakers to vote in favor of special counsel Robert Mueller's report being released to the public, calling it a "game."
"On the recent non-binding vote (420-0) in Congress about releasing the Mueller Report, I told leadership to let all Republicans vote for transparency," Trump tweeted Saturday. "Makes us all look good and doesn't matter. Play along with the game!"
His message comes just two days after House Democrats and Republicans overwhelmingly voted that the Justice Department should release the findings from Mueller's investigation into Russia's 2016 election meddling and any role the Trump campaign may have played.
According to the New York Times, "Democrats who put [the nonbinding resolution] on the House floor are trying to build public pressure on Attorney General William P. Barr before the investigation's anticipated conclusion."
Despite the measure's support in the House, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham quickly blocked a Senate vote.
Furthermore, Trump asserted earlier this week that "there should be no Mueller Report."
"So, if there was knowingly & acknowledged to be 'zero' crime when the Special Counsel was appointed, and if the appointment was made based on the Fake Dossier (paid for by Crooked Hillary) and now disgraced Andrew McCabe (he & all stated no crime), then the Special Counsel...........should never have been appointed and there should be no Mueller Report," Trump tweeted Friday.
"This was an illegal & conflicted investigation in search of a crime. Russian Collusion was nothing more than an excuse by the Democrats for losing an Election that they thought they were going to win..........THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN TO A PRESIDENT AGAIN!" Trump continued.
