Trump Orders US Grounding
of Boeing 737 MAX 8 and 9 Planes President Donald
Trump's Wednesday
afternoon order
is effective immediately. Trump said all of the Boeing
planes that were currently
in flight would be ordered to land. The order follows new
information about the recent
crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302. The MAX 8 flight crashed into a
field shortly after take off on
Sunday, killing all 157 people aboard. In the following days, dozens
of countries grounded the planes after investigators drew parallels
between that crash and the
Lion Air MAX 8 crash last year
that killed 189 people. Prior to Trump's order on Wednesday,
Canada also ordered the grounding of
the Boeing planes citing the new data. China was the first country
to order the suspension of
the Boeing MAX 8 and 9
planes on Monday evening.
