Highway 485 Near Jemez Springs & Gilman, New Mexico: Driving Tour & Pictures

Jemez Springs is one of my favorite destinations within an hour or so from Albuquerque. Not only is it beautiful, but there is so much to do and see. You can visit there all four seasons (as long as you're prepared), and find something fun to do. I'm a HUGE fan of running water. No, not the kind you get when you turn on the faucet, but water in a river, trickling stream, or slow, meandering creek. I have this constant urge to dangle my toes into a babbling brook somewhere in the woods or mountains, so I find myself finding close-by destinations where I can do just that!

This particular trip was in January, so I didn't get out and dangle my feet in the river, but I did walk alongside it while we were attending a function at Hummingbird Music Camp. You can watch my video tour of Hummingbird Music Camp by clicking on one of the end-screen links or by going to my videos and clicking on it from there.

On our way back, we took a quick detour and turned off Hwy 4 onto Hwy 485 and drove back into the little town of Gilman along the Guadalupe River. It's a quiet community along the way to the Gilman Tunnels, (but we didn't go all the way to the tunnels). I had some business in Gilman, so I video taped my trip.

Here is a link to a fun website with a lot of fun information about the area (especially if you're into biking): http://www.nmts.org/rides/gilmanTunnelsMTB.htm

I hope you enjoy and thanks for watching!
